Light as it Falls:
Come Dance with Me
“Light as it Falls, Come Dance with Me is a provocative journey through shadows and light. Irene Naested states she “fears the blank canvas and white paper.” Her fear has become our joy as we travel with Irene through her art-book in her search for balance, flow, and self-expression to create an artifact that will live on. … The vulnerability presented is both familiar and refreshing as we move with Irene from her state of questioning, almost a rebellious defiance of mounting years, to acceptance”. — Mary Vlooswyk
This book contains more than 150 pages with 71 images combining Irene’s art piece (drawings, paintings, collage, mix-media, and photography in black, white and grey) her own words and the words of others. Irene has created a captivating collage of philosophical questions and response. Her artwork compliments the thoughts and questions she poses. It allows us to dive deeper into her subconscious interpretation and helps us to connect to our deeper selves.
“Come Dance with Me” is a conversation, an invitation to dance: a second edition of the original Light as it Falls book which was written during the COVID shutdown of 2020. The manuscript visited themes of political, social, religious, gender equality, gender diversity, war, women’s rights, being and continuing to be in turmoil at the time. Irene invites you to re-visit these same themes to reinterpret and revise in the spirit of creation. With a focus on balance, she encourages readers to create balance of energy in writing, art, music and life.
