Gordon Pengilly – Exploration of the human condition through artistic creation is what it’s about for Gordon. Along with playwriting and flyfishing his most enduring passion in life is sculpting. He has worked with wood, soapstone, plastic and most recently clay. Rodin observed that the interplay between subject and material in sculpture necessarily invokes sensuality.
Gordon says:
As I work with clay the veracity of that remark has never been so personal or intense. My sculptures have been selected for several juried exhibitions in Calgary, including: Beacon Original Art, Calyx Distinctive Art, Artistic Entities and State of Art Society. They have been chosen for group shows in Calgary with the Leighton Arts Centre, Roberto Ostberg Gallery and Midtowne Gallery. Recent and current exhibitions include Gust Gallery (Waterton), Evanescence Gallery (High River), Lineham House Gallery(Okotoks), Calgary Stampede Western Art Gallery, Latitude Gallery (Calgary), Calgary Public Library, Crowsnest Gallery (Blairmore), Gallery YEG (Edmonton), Apik Gallery (Calgary) Framed on 5th (Calgary), Franz Dopf Gallery (Calgary) and Odette Laroche Gallery (Sidney, BC).  Through sculpting I challenge myself to create beauty from the deepest part of me where the lovely language of form and space resides.
