Flowers:Botany of Desire, Explored through paint, print, prose & poetry

Course participants will explore the theme of Flowers: The Botany of Desire, explored through paint, print, prose & poetry. The course will culminate with an anthology of participants’ art and writing, a book launch and talk, and a gallery exhibition of the work. These opportunities will give course participants a professional venue for exhibition and publication of their work. Some art supplies (various media) will be supplied. All participants will be given copies of the publication.

 Dates & Times: Two sections offered.

#1 – 8 Mondays – 7:00 to 9:00 – Jan. 8,15,22,29, Feb. 5, 12, 26, Mar. 5

#2 – 8 Saturdays- 10:00 to 12:00 – Jan. 13,20,27, Feb. 3, 10, 24, Mar. 3

Location: Naested Studio, 1124 – 15th Street N.W. Calgary, AB.

Cost: $575.00 (limit 6 seats per session)

Irene Naested, Professor Emerita, is an author, visual artist, and educator. She has authored numerous books, chapters, journal articles, and teacher resources on teaching and learning. Her poetry and prose have been published in journals such as Gust and Still Point Arts Quarterly. Irene’s visual art and writing become multi-layers of exploration of ideas, insights, meditative moments, and principles of composition gleaned from nature. Vivian Hansen is a poet and freelance writer. Her poetry, fiction, and nonfiction have appeared in a wide variety of anthologies and journals. Her latest book of poetry, A Tincture of Sunlight (2017), Frontenac House, is a best seller. For many years Vivian has taught poetry and creative writing at Alexandra Writing Center, University of Calgary and Mount Royal College.
