Brenda Kelly – As an artist, I combine photography and painted pieces into complex, contemplative digital collages. My intent is to create an enigmatic experience for the viewer that encourages them to look through the layers and into the depth of the work, to see beyond the initial photographic subject.
The inspiration for each piece can include a combination of landscapes, figures, textures and natural elements. I blend these digitally with other photos or images created from my watercolours, acrylics or drawings.
I am most passionate and driven when I explore multiple assembled works on a specific theme. “Profundity of Colour” is such a project that combined photos and paintings in a collaborative experience with a dozen artists and poets. In 2025 we explored and shared our vision of and responses to the colours of blue, green, orange, purple, red and yellow for a rainbow of results.
